Hi, I'm Myvanwy

Counselling Therapist, Energy Practitioner, Mother & Creative

I’m committed to supporting women through life’s challenges: relationships, family, health, career and times of transition. When life pulls us in many directions, it can become too much to hold alone.

I believe women have a remarkable capacity to rise, like the lotus flower that grows from the mud into bloom. With the right support, we can find balance, reconnect with the deeper parts of ourselves and become the woman we dream of being.

I work with women who feel disconnected from themselves, helping them become more embodied in who they are, in their health, their relationships and their lives. I also believe we can transform our lives by transforming the stress we hold in our bodies.

My background weaves together counselling, wellness, energy healing therapy and creative arts. Over many decades I have supported people's wellbeing through body therapies, energy healing, herbal plant medicine and creative expression.

As a mother, I understand the juggle of family, relationships, career, health and passions. I have walked through a dark tunnel of grief and come out the other side, and I continue to grow and thrive in the life I have. For me, personal growth is a journey that never ends, just like the seasons and cycles we live within.

Counselling has also been part of my own healing journey. It supported me through significant life changes, helped me see the ingrained patterns that hold me back, and guided me through deep transformation.

It is an honour to offer counselling to women who are ready to reconnect with themselves and their body’s story, and to build the thriving life they want.

Somatic Awareness

A central part of my work is somatic journeys—gentle, guided explorations that invite you to slow down and listen to what your body is communicating. Through felt sense, body sensations, visualisation, imagery and metaphor, we explore what may be sitting beneath the thoughts and stories of everyday life.

By turning towards your body with curiosity, you may begin to notice emotions, patterns and deeper insights that have been difficult to put into words. I work from a trauma-informed approach, establishing safety and grounding as we explore, helping you reconnect with yourself, support nervous system regulation and open new possibilities for healing and change.

Expressive Arts

Creative expression offers another way to explore feelings and experiences that can sometimes be difficult to put into words. Through colour, imagery, symbols, movement, journaling or other creative processes, you can gently give expression to your inner world and discover new perspectives and insights.

These processes can help you connect with emotions, intuition and parts of yourself that may have been hidden or unheard, creating space for greater freedom, self-expression and change. No artistic experience or skill is needed—the focus is on the process and what emerges for you.

Cognitive Behaviour (CBT)

The way we think can strongly influence how we feel, respond and move through life. Together, we explore thought patterns, limiting beliefs and the stories we tell ourselves that may be contributing to anxiety, self-doubt, feeling stuck or repeating patterns that no longer serve you.

Through greater awareness, you can begin to challenge old beliefs and develop more supportive ways of thinking and responding. This can help you approach life with greater clarity, confidence and choice, while creating meaningful and lasting change.

Solution-Focused

Sometimes therapy is about understanding the past, and sometimes it is about looking forward and creating change. A solution-focused approach helps you clarify what you want, recognise what is already working, and identify the strengths and resources you can draw upon.

Together, we develop practical steps towards your goals, helping you build confidence, resilience and a greater sense of possibility. The focus is on empowering you to make meaningful changes and move towards the life you want to create.

Inner Parts Work

We all have different parts of ourselves—the strong part, the vulnerable part, the inner critic, or the part that longs to feel loved and accepted. At times, these parts can hold conflicting feelings or protective patterns shaped by earlier childhood experiences.

Through gentle exploration and dialogue, we can begin to understand what these parts need rather than judging or pushing them away. Bringing awareness and compassion to your inner world can help resolve internal conflict, deepen self-understanding and create a greater sense of integration and wholeness.

Attachment Theory

I use attachment theory as a practical lens for understanding the recurring patterns that show up in love, conflict, and intimacy. Identifying your attachment style (secure, anxious, avoidant, or disorganised) can help you make sense of why certain situations feel so charged and why you respond the way you do. A person with an anxious style may seek constant reassurance and fear abandonment, while someone with an avoidant style may withdraw when closeness feels overwhelming.

Together, we explore past relationships, notice triggers in current partnerships, and practise new responses, such as pausing before reacting or expressing vulnerability. Attachment theory offers a compassionate framework to build more secure, fulfilling relationships.

How I Work

How I Work

I offer a grounded, heart-centred and empowering approach to counselling. Together, we explore to deepen understanding about what’s happening for you and work towards creating meaningful change. We will uncover the deeper emotions, beliefs and patterns that may be keeping you stuck.

Deepen Understanding

I will work alongside you to explore the challenges you are facing in your life, relationships, health, emotions and patterns.

Reconnect with Yourself

Somatic awareness and creative tools help you slow down, reconnect with the deeper parts of yourself and notice what your body and subconscious may be communicating.

Find Expression

Drawing, imagery, movement and creative exploration engage another language and expression for feelings beyond words.

Transform

Engaging your body, nervous system, sub-conscious and developing new perspectives, offer new ways to move towards the life you want.

Home Practice

Integrating what we explore in our session is an important key in creating change. I offer practices or tools to explore between sessions, helping you bring what emerges from therapy into your everyday life.

Allow Time for Change
You may notice shifts from each session. Small changes create new habits and sustainable transformation.

I recommend a minimum of 6 sessions.

Deeper patterns can take time to understand and transform, sometimes months and even years.

Change requires patience, consistency and making small achievable, yet powerful changes.

Your Pace
We work collaboratively and at a pace that feels right for you.

I acknowledge the Minjumbal & Arakwal people of the Bundjalung Nation, the traditional custodians of the land and waters, where I live and work. I pay my respects to the traditional Elders and wisdom keepers of this land - passed, present and emerging.
